In the neighborhood there are also Snagov Palace, the fabulous ex summer residence of  Nicolae Ceausescu, and well-known sports ground.

  First document about Snagov  appeared in 1408, a decree of Mircea the Old, but here there are opinions as a place of worship since the reign of Vladislav I (1364-1379).
  According to some researchers, Vlad Tepes was  killed in 1476 in the forest near Bălteni and was buried at Snagov.

  Moreover, the island that was the monastery, archaeological excavations have brought to light of day tools and utensils of the bronze age and iron, Roman and Byzantine coins, which are evidence of ancient and uninterrupted occupation on this island.
  Rebuilt in 1517-1521 by Neagoe Basarab, when the monastery church is given a shape close to that of today, Snagov Monastery continues to be an important building and place a significant economic and social convergence of times since then.
